A Covenant for Civility . . . YES!!!

If, like me, you are concerned and/or disturbed by the growing vitriol by groups and individuals aimed at those they disagree with, then I think you should read the posting by Jim Wallis on the God’s Politics blog. I appreciate that in addition to his perspective and position on the content and tone of recent political discourse, he offers a tangible opportunity to respond and begin taking action to bring about more civil discourse . . . especially among those of us calling ourselves Christian. I think it’s important for us to call and encourage all Christians to engage in respectful and civil discourse with others–especially with each other. On a personal level, I think we have a responsibility for how we communicate with those on “the other side” with whom we disagree. If the level and tone of discourse are to improve, it has to begin with and be modeled by those of us who want to see it change.
