Endorsement of racial “color-blindness” is linked to racism. (via Restructure!)


The findings of the study by Professor Tynes validates what many of us already knew intuitively. Unfortunately, it also demonstrates that there are still many–likely the overwhelming majority–white folks who think becoming “color blind” is the ideal and what we should all be working toward. On the other hand, I cannot recall ever hearing a person of color take this position–although I’m sure someone among those advocating the “color blind” position could probably provide an example. Hopefully, this study will open eyes and hearts among many who consider being or becoming “color blind” the ideal.
